Extension to the existing hospice building.

Client:

Thames Hospice

The Sanctuary is a new dedicated indoor and outdoor area built within the grounds of Thames Hospice in Windsor.

The scheme consists of a large day room, with a specially commissioned stain glass window and a state of the art media system, controls to adjust the lights and speaker system at the touch of a button. This light and airy room with ancillary space and link building leads out into decorative landscaped gardens with access to all areas. The scheme also includes a new entrance, cloakroom facilities and external works to provide parking facilities.

The phased requirements of this project needed careful sequencing to enable completion of the car park works and soakaways prior to the building commencing.

A mix of Cedar cladding, glass and high-tech Zinc rain screen cladding was used to complete the envelope of this contemporary building. The gardens consist of two water features, paddle stone walls and various statues all of which were built or installed by our specialist internal trades.

Special care was taken to ensure that no disruption occurred to the hospice, which remained open during very sensitive times. The project was handed over two weeks early to a delighted client
