Foxglove Manor is an exceptional new build bespoke country mansion, positioned overlooking its own gardens and parkland. Located in Whitchurch-on-Thames (near Pangbourne), the main house and ancillary buildings provide well planned, spacious, modern and stylish country house accommodation designed and constructed to exacting quality.
The main house (GIFA 969m2) occupies an elevated setting on the south slope of Whitchurch Hill with views across the Thames valley situated within its own landscaped grounds.
Francis Construction undertook the design and construction of the structure and external elevations, including ancillary buildings, drainage and service connections to this prestigious single dwelling.
The works included traditional brickwork, cedar cladding and specialist render finishes to the external walls along with roof construction, waterproof finishes and brass windows and doors to provide a watertight shell.
The bespoke fit out across the ground, first and second floors contained and provided a mix of traditional high quality finishes, fixings and furnishings within the five reception rooms and six large bedrooms.
The reception hall features panelled walls, a limestone floor and architraves, with a bespoke staircase rising to the first floor and an archway to the galleried inner hall.
The library includes a bespoke stonework fireplace, vaulted ceiling and oak framed interior, with high specification oak flooring and double doors to a balcony. There is a spiral staircase leading to a lower ground floor office with double doors opening to the garden with access to the cellar, gym and storeroom.
A vaulted kitchen/breakfast room features an exposed oak frame with panelling, and granite worktops together with wall and floor units.
There are a total of six large bedrooms within the complex, all with en-suite bathrooms and shower rooms. The total gross internal area of the site measures 1274m2.
An external triple garage also provides accommodation above. Together with a swimming pool, stables and Hartley botanic greenhouse, the gardens and grounds cover an area in excess of 37 acres.
The drive to uphold the high quality of the project was maintained with no effort spared to complete the finishes. This aspect of the build commenced during the design phase, where Francis Construction had significant input in collaboration with the architect’s team.
