The business was founded by the Francis Brothers
At the time of the business being set up the company was based in Tilehurst, Berkshire. At the time Reading was an expanding prosperous town.
1917
The earliest record of one of our company invoices
The earliest recorded Invoice was between Francis and another local family business, A.F. Jones Stone Masons who we still work with today.
1964
The Barrett family acquire the business
Colin and Rodney Barrett acquired the business, Rodney Barrett was the father to our chairman and grandfather to our Managing Director, Will Barrett. Colin and Rodney were the first generation of the Barrett family to run the business.
1980
Mark Barrett takes control of the family business
Mark Barrett took over the helm of Francis Construction from his father and uncle. Mark remains an important presence within the company today as Chairman of the business.
2000
The company moves from its historic location in Tilehurst to the current Thatcham address
To accommodate the growth of the business and provide much needed space Francis Construction moved from its original premises in Tilehurst to its current office in Thatcham. This move has provided us with great transport links for the locations we cover.
2015
Will Barrett takes over as Managing Director
Mark Barrett remains within the Chairman position but hands over to his son Will Barrett as the Managing Director. Will is the third generation of the Barrett family to run the business and under his direction the company has steadily grown whilst delivering high quality and exciting projects across a range of sectors and clients.
