Providing high quality home from home accommodation for the Universities teaching staff.
We were appointed to carry out extensive renovations to this residential scheme in Broadoak Place, at the University of Reading’s Whiteknights campus, following the foreclosure of the previous contractor working on the development.
At the start of the renovation scheme, the five buildings were handed over in a partial state of completion, along with partially complete external works.
Internally, the remedial works included replacement of windows and doors, floor screed repairs and further carpentry and joinery to modify staircases and kitchen units in order to provide compliant disabled access. Upgrades and additional joinery were carried out by our sister company Francis Joinery. A range of M&E alterations included radiator replacements and relocation of controls and switches, together with repairs to plumbing and pipework.
Externally, the buildings’rendering required repair and waterproofing, in addition to major upgrades to drainage and utilities. The works included completion of the landscaping, paving and fencing to the rear gardens, together with hard landscaping and road access.
The £1m renovation scheme on the University’s campus provides refurbished high quality semi-detached accommodation for teaching staff with improved and upgraded access facilities.
