Following the demolition of disused buildings at Southlake Crescent in Woodley, we were appointed to the construction of this new build housing scheme for Wokingham Housing Ltd (WHL), which comprises of 10 three-bed family homes – on the site of the former home of the Woodley Age Concern day centre in Southlake Crescent, which closed in 2016.
The new homes were made available for rent and shared ownership by WHL, through their sister company Loddon Homes (a wholly owned Council company, regulated by the Regulator of Social Housing).
The development is well served by the local shopping precinct in Woodley that offers schools, a library, shops and access to health providers. The houses are well positioned with access to local bus routes and major road links.
With full landscaping and new trees incorporated into the design to mitigate the loss of the existing trees, the scheme fits seamlessly into the existing well established community within Southlake Crescent.
The traditional brick built affordable housing development is set out as five pairs of semi-detached houses, with hard and soft landscaping. The scheme achieved an Energy Rating B; sustainable features include all plots fitted with PV panels on the roof.
