Reading Blue Coat School is an independent day school for boys with a co-educational sixth form in Holme Park in the village of Sonning, Berkshire.
From September 2023 the school is fully co-educational. In preparation to welcoming the female pupils, additional facilities needed to be created.
This project consisted of the internal alterations and refurbishment of sports hall changing rooms, medical centre and modernisation of the reception, all spread across three buildings.
The reception and medical centre are single storey buildings located next to each other near the main school roundabout. Changing rooms are located within the sports centre, which is in the centre of the site. The general refurbishment works comprised strip out of the existing area, repairs and replacement of windows and internal fit out and refurbishment. Additional walls were constructed, and door locations were altered.
All works were delivered during summer holidays and spanned over eight weeks programme. Although the building was vacant for works, we needed to arrange the site so that all staff remaining within the building had safe access.
We have taken every effort to minimise noise and disruption to the staff.
