New build

Client:

Wokingham Borough Council

To accommodate the increase of pupil intake at Grazeley Parochial C of E Primary School, we undertook the extension scheme to create new classrooms alongside associated external works.

The new brick and block building comprised of a single storey extension with classrooms and new toilet facilities, together with extensive internal modifications. The new building construction had to match aesthetically with the old, which was seamlessly achieved. A new car park, football pitch and multi-use games area was added, associated works included a new drainage system.

Environmentally, we implemented a reptile migration strategy ahead of the programme, removing existing refuges and constructing a whole new habitat.

The project took place within a live school environment, with the team integrating well with the staff and pupils – establishing and maintaining a productive and professional relationship throughout. During the construction phase, site tours and special assemblies were given to the children and staff, to engage and interact during the development the project, and providing them with an opportunity to get involved. As well as sponsoring the school’s football team, we also sponsored both the Christmas and Summer Fairs.

On project completion, we were delighted to receive a commemorative ‘book’: each pupil produced a piece of work reflecting their thoughts on their new school building and their experiences during the construction phase.
