On Thursday 9 January Southampton Solent University celebrated the topping out of their brand new, cutting-edge South Coast Institute of Technology (IoT) facility.
As well as the senior leadership team from Solent University and the Institute for Technology, representatives from the Department for Education, Peter Marsh Consulting and Francis Construction were also in attendance.
This £7m state-of-the-art facility is set to open this summer 2025 and will offer students the opportunity to gain high quality technical education. Solent proudly showcased the structure, which will become a workspace for around 2,000 new maritime, engineering, and digital students each year.
Our MD, Will Barrett, said: ‘This new facility is instrumental in bridging between education and industry, providing technical expertise into the British maritime and engineering industry for the future. We are proud to be working in partnership with Solent University and PMC to deliver an inspiring place to learn whilst also focusing on reducing carbon to construct and operate the facility.’
