This project involved demolition of the existing industrial buildings followed by a new build single storey steel frame that was clad in a CA profile with rendered front panels and a rolled standing seam roof.
The build comprised a four unit terraced warehouse /business /trade units together with associated drainage and external works. In addition, car parking for 50 spaces and yard paving for articulated vehicles for deliveries and collections. Working under a JCT Design & Build contract, all units included office and ancillary space on the ground floor with office and amenity accommodation on the second storey. The 25,000 ft2 build was 8.5m eaves height.
Due to the site being located alongside the live main Bristol to London rail line, much liaison with Network Rail was involved. They required access to our method statements and risk assessments as we had to comply with strict rules for all high risk items such as steel erection and cladding. During these operations, a Network Rail engineer was present in the unlikely event of object impact on the line.
The project was delivered on time and to budget.
