Services:

Refurbishment and reconfiguration of swimming pool facilities.

Client:

West Berkshire Council

Located in the heart of Newbury, Northcroft Leisure Centre provides a range of leisure facilities to the local community, including a 25m swimming pool, 72m outdoor pool, well-equipped gym, sports hall, squash courts and an onsite café.

The refurbishment project comprised the internal reconfiguration and upgrade of the existing indoor and outdoor pool changing and toilet facilities. The works required careful phasing to ensure that both pools and leisure centre facilities could remain operational at all times.

The outdoor pool changing rooms were upgraded to exacting standards with high specification heating and lighting, together with new accesses to provide temporary accommodation for the indoor pool whilst major works were undertaken.

The indoor pool changing rooms had been untouched for 30 years (and were in dire need of enhancement): the works comprised a wholesale reconfiguration of the internal space, including major structural and drainage works to accommodate a fresh new layout.

Some major issues were uncovered during the construction works, including failed drainage and structural supports in locations not previously identified. We worked closely with the client to overcome these issues, and delivered the project within the original programme and budget constraints.
