Located centrally within Greenham Business Park, this project involved construction of a two-storey steel framed, metal clad office building, which was fitted out as a veterinary practice and provided with associated car and cycle parking.
Upon completion, the new veterinary practice reception area looks bright and welcoming, with separate waiting areas for dogs and cats, all under exposed ceiling services.
On the ground floor there are also three consultation rooms, preparation room, X-Ray room, operating theatre, kennels and cattery and isolation room.
An open floor office space upstairs is fully dedicated to the practice’s staff.
Our team worked for 40 weeks and started with ground preparation during which levels were reduced to suit proposed building levels. All topsoil and organic matter were removed below building footprint.
Delivering this project under Design & Build contract and having previously worked for the developer veterinary clients, we brought a deep understanding of specific requirements and knowledge of sub-contractors and suppliers, whose work and materials complied in full with all relevant regulations and standards.
Due to nature of vet’s practice operations, steps were taken to ensure there is no risk posed by contaminated water. We successfully demonstrated compliance with water fittings regulations by choosing and installing compliant products and gaining approval from WRAS, the Water Regulations Approval Scheme.
We also liaised with a Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA) for official health and safety guidance needed for construction of an X-ray room, so it meets safety regulations and protects practice’s staff and patients. For example, the doors installed provide a solid barrier with lead lining necessary for radiation protection alongside the full suite of radiation mitigation measures.
To make the building energy efficient PV panels were installed on the roof to capture the sun’s energy and convert it into electricity.
Completed in February 2024, the building achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.
