The project was to undertake the phased refurbishment of two listed shops, as well as extending them and providing modern offices at first floor level.

The refurbishment involved restoring and rebuilding a brick infilled timber frame, using locally sourced reclaimed materials.

The extension was a contemporary design incorporating purpose made steel casement windows, exposed aggregate reinforced concrete and a feature staircase using reconstructed stone with reclaimed railway sleepers.

The office area at first floor level included an area for use as a design studio incorporating rooflights to provide natural lighting and sophisticated supplementary lighting.
