The project involved the complete refurbishment, repair and alterations of an Edwardian Country House in the grounds of St Marys School Ascot.
New accommodation was provided for the Headmistress and other senior staff in two houses and flats, including the conversion of a garage into a third house. Following demolition of sub-standard 1950s additions to the rear, these areas were rebuilt in keeping with the original house, new services were installed throughout, including fire and smoke alarms, data cabling, following major structural alterations.
The existing internal staircases, joinery, doors and decorative plaster mouldings were carefully protected and retained. Extensive sound insulation was added to internal walls and floors. The project was handed over on time despite additional work in removing decayed timbers and asbestos.
