Following demolition of the existing Church buildings, a purpose designed Church and Community Centre was built. Facilities included an area for worship, activities and sports hall, crèche, playgroup rooms, meeting rooms, kitchens, disabled facilities and offices.
Construction was partly steel framed, with load bearing cavity walls and a laminated beam timber roof in the worship area. Roof coverings were interlocking concrete tiles. Francis Construction assisted in the design development of the timber roof beams and steelwork, with other value engineered solutions to maintain the project within a tight budget. Finishings were carefully selected to produce low maintenance/hard wearing qualities to cope with the multi use community requirements.
