The school required a new modern foreign language block and an extension to provide a refectory and cafe area all to be constructed whilst ensuring the existing kitchen/refectory area and adjacent classrooms remained in use.
During the first summer holiday period the existing building, power and fire alarm were re-wired whilst adjustment works were completed. This facilitated a fully functional building when pupils returned for the Autumn term.
Higher risk activities associated with the new build elements were also to be completed by the time the pupils returned. The project ran smoothly and included innovative materials such as the Sedum roof, which will also be used as a teaching resource within the school's curriculum.
The building was completed early allowing the school access to 90% of the areas whilst the feature draft lobby was completed.
The new building is a huge addition to the school in terms of teaching space, IT resources, a cafe area and modern foreign language teaching facilities, whilst being a central focus and improving the circulation within the school.
